About Rotary



In 1905, four Chicago businessmen set out to create a professional club with a friendly spirit.

As Rotary grew, its mission expanded beyond serving club members’ professional and social interests.

Soon Rotary became the world’s first volunteer service club helping communities in need.

Today Rotary is 1.2 million men and women in 160+ countries conducting projects to address

poverty, illiteracy, disease and hunger while promoting peace.

At the local level Rotary is 34,000 autonomous clubs meeting the needs they identify in their own communities.
